Your Journey

What to Expect

Before Treatment

Free Consultation

Mr Chalhoub assesses your facial structure, skin quality and where volume has been lost. He explains how Sculptra works, how many vials you are likely to need, and whether Sculptra, filler or a combination would suit you best.

Treatment Day

Session 1

Treatment takes around 30–45 minutes. Sculptra is injected into the deeper layers of the skin using a fine needle or cannula, with numbing to keep you comfortable. Most people return to normal activities the same day.

First Few Days

Swelling Settles

You may look fuller straight after treatment. This is mostly fluid and settles within a few days, so don't judge results yet. Daily massage of the area during the first week helps the product spread evenly.

About 6 Weeks Later

Session 2 (and 3 if needed)

Further sessions build on the collagen already forming. Spacing them about 6 weeks apart gives the most even, natural-looking result.

3–6 Months

Results Build

New collagen forms gradually, restoring structure and improving skin firmness. Because the change is slow, friends notice that you look well rather than that you've had something done.

Two Years and Beyond

Long-Lasting Results

Results can last two years or more. Many patients choose a single top-up vial every 1–2 years to maintain them.

In Detail

Understanding Sculptra

How Sculptra works, where it helps, and how it differs from filler.

What Is Sculptra?

A Collagen Stimulator

Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible material that has been used in medicine for decades. Hyaluronic acid filler adds volume straight away. Sculptra works differently: it prompts your skin to build new collagen of its own.

Over the following months, that collagen restores lost structure and improves skin firmness. The PLLA itself is gradually broken down and absorbed by the body, leaving your own collagen behind.

Treatment Areas

Where Sculptra Helps

Sculptra is best suited to broad areas of volume loss: hollow temples, flattened cheeks, a softening jawline, and deeper lines around the mouth. It can also improve skin quality in the face and, in some cases, other areas such as the buttocks.

It is not used in the lips or directly around the eyes. For those areas, a hyaluronic acid filler is usually the better choice.

Sculptra vs Fillers

Understanding the Difference

Fillers give an immediate result and can be dissolved if needed, but typically last 6–18 months. Sculptra builds results gradually, cannot be dissolved, and can last two years or more.

Many patients benefit from both: Sculptra to rebuild overall structure, and filler for precise detail such as the lips or chin.

Why Experience Matters

Surgeon-Led Technique

Because Sculptra cannot be dissolved, results depend on careful assessment, correct dilution, and precise placement at the right depth. Mr Chalhoub's training in plastic surgery and facial anatomy shapes every treatment plan, so results look natural and in proportion.

Sculptra is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active skin infection, or for people prone to keloid scarring. Your consultation covers all of this.

Common Questions

Sculptra FAQ

Not in the usual sense. Hyaluronic acid fillers add volume immediately. Sculptra is a collagen stimulator: it prompts your skin to produce new collagen, so volume returns gradually over several months and looks like your own.

Sculptra costs from £700 per vial. Most patients need 2 to 3 vials. Your consultation is free, and you will receive a written quote before any treatment.

Most patients need 2 to 3 vials, given over 2 to 3 sessions about 6 weeks apart. The right number depends on how much volume has been lost and which areas are being treated. Mr Chalhoub will recommend a plan at your consultation.

Any fullness straight after treatment is mostly swelling and settles within a few days. Real results build as collagen forms, usually becoming visible from 6 to 8 weeks and continuing to improve for several months after your final session.

Once a course is complete, results can last two years or more, because the collagen is your own. Many patients maintain them with a single top-up vial every 1–2 years.

Most patients find it very manageable. Sculptra is mixed with local anaesthetic, and numbing cream can be applied beforehand. You may feel some pressure and mild tenderness, which settles quickly.

No. Unlike hyaluronic acid filler, Sculptra cannot be dissolved. That is why careful assessment, conservative planning and an experienced injector matter so much.

Common side effects are mild and temporary: swelling, tenderness, redness and bruising at injection sites. Small lumps under the skin can occasionally develop. Correct dilution, correct depth and following the massage aftercare all reduce this risk. Mr Chalhoub will go through all risks with you at your consultation.

Yes. Sculptra pairs well with hyaluronic acid filler for fine detail, and with Profhilo for skin hydration and glow. Treatments are usually spaced a couple of weeks apart. Your consultation will cover the best order and timing.

No. As with all injectable treatments, we recommend waiting until you have finished breastfeeding before having Sculptra.

During your free consultation, Mr Chalhoub will assess your facial structure and skin, discuss your goals, and explain whether Sculptra, filler or a combination would give you the most natural result. You will leave with a clear plan, a written quote, and no pressure to proceed.
